This talk deals with a question that is becoming increasingly important for historians who work with digitised cultural heritage: what are the politics of digitisation and what are its implications for historical research?

In spite of their fondamental geopolitical differences and their contrasting trajectories through the history, modern-day Romania and Luxembourg have always enjoyed a unique relationship, which started in the 12th century, when a number of Siebenbürger Sachsen could migrate eastwards (in Transylvania).

After the Second World War, Luxembourg became a leading player in international relations. As a founding member of most of the major international institutions – including the United Nations (1945), the North Atlantic Treaty Organisa-tion (1949), the Council of Europe (1949), the European Communities (starting with the European Coal and Steel Community in 1951) and then the European Union (1993) –, Luxembourg assumed a key role in European integration and multilateralism.

The paper presents a method for corpus-based informational analysis, using an open source platform for lexicometric processing and a spreadsheet application.

This short presentation was a mid-term feedback on the collective work of WG2 that I lead within the WARCnet project. I especially underlined the research we conducted through an internal datathon we organised in January 2021 and which used seed lists, derived data and metadata.

When six European nations embarked on the integration process in the wake of World War II, there was no blueprint. Of course, the founders had a vision and shared ideals, but European integration has left some citizens afraid of losing their identity and cultural heritage and an influx of immigrants has fuelled these fears. Building on this topic, this panel brings together researchers who focus on different aspects of what happens to history and heritage in multicultural European societies and particularly those in the border regions over time.

The history of Poles in Luxembourg after the re-establishment of the new Polish state in 1918 can be traced on the basis of statistics from various sources. The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs kept statistics that provide a picture of Polish labour migration between two world wars. Luxembourg historians have also tackled the question of the image of the Polish diaspora before its members started to assimilate.
