The C²DH participates in an ERC project

On 5 March 2021, the inaugural workshop of a new ERC project, “Social politics in European borderlands, 1870s–1990s: A comparative and transnational study” (SOCIOBORD), was held. The project’s principal investigator is EUI Professor of History Laura Lee Downs. C²DH Professor Machteld Venken leads a work package within the project.

The C²DH (University of Luxembourg), the film production company Samsa Film, and the Centre National de l'Audiovisuel (CNA) are currently producing the transmedia documentary “A COLÔNIA LUXEMBURGUESA » by the Luxembourg-Brazilian director and historian Dominique Santana, with the support of the Film Fund Luxembourg and Esch2022. This transmedia project takes us to the core of the so-called Colônia Luxemburguesa and invites us to discover together a century of common industrial, cultural and social heritage.

Workshop report: Rethinking the Histories and Legacies of Industrial Cities

On 10 and 11 December 2020, the C²DH has hosted an online workshop. This event was organised as part of the research project “Remixing Industrial Pasts in the Digital Age: Sounds, Images, Ecologies, Practices and Materialities in Space and Time”. This workshop brought together academics from different countries to analyse the evolution of industrial cities during the 20th century.
