Transnational popular culture – Europe in the long 1960s (2)

"Populärkultur transnational - Europa in den langen 1960er Jahren" - This interdisciplinary research group composed of members of the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH), the Institute for History at the University of Luxembourg and Saarland University will investigate transnational transfers of popular culture in Europe in the 1960s.

After a first phase of the project (2018-2021) the research group is now in its second phase (2021-2024) with new themes, project leaders and researchers.

Recording memories at the fair. Oral history and the “Schueberfouer”

Memory has its own pitfalls, and to provide a more tangible environment for remembering, it was decided to perform oral history interviews for the ongoing research about the “Schueberfouer” funfair on site at the fairground. The assumption was that the space of the “Schueberfouer” could trigger memories and reflections that would otherwise not emerge. However, navigating through a noisy present can prove challenging.
