Sean is in charge of the DHARPA project

Sean Takats leads the Digital History Advanced Research Projects Accelerator (DHARPA) at the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH). He studied economics and history and is currently Professor of Digital History and FNR PEARL Chair at the University of Luxembourg. Takats earned his PhD in 2005 at the University of Michigan and worked as Assistant Professor (2007-2013) and Associate Professor (2013-2019) at George Mason University, where he was Director of the Research Projects Division at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media.

Takats's projects have been awarded over EUR 10 million in funding from a range of private and public funding agencies including the Mellon Foundation (USA), the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation (USA), the National Endowment for the Humanities (USA), the Institute of Museum and Library Services (USA), and the Luxembourg National Research Fund. Together with Sharon M. Leon (Michigan State University), Takats leads Digital Scholar, a nonprofit which operates the business model for a range of digital history software projects. He is Director of Zotero and Principal Investigator of Tropy.
