Andrew is a doctoral researcher

Andrew Pfannkuche received his B.A. in history from Illinois State University (2020) and his master’s degree in contemporary European history from the University of Luxembourg (2023). His dissertation, provisionally titled Making May Day traces the global history of the First of May to ask how a one-day strike for the eight-hour day transformed into an international holiday dedicated to a brighter future that is just around the corner. Andrew is a former editor of The Activist and has also published in Democratic Left. His other research interests include French and Albanian history, Atlantic liberalism, and the development of left-wing political cultures and identities.
