New consortium to enable interoperability of historical data

all news
On the 23-24 November 2017, Francesco Beretta (CNRS/Université de Lyon, LARIAH) and George Bruseker (FORTH, Center for Cultural Heritage - Institute of Computer Science, Heraklion) invited several research groups from digital history, who deal with the production of historical data to Lyon. The gathered researchers started a consortium that will enable the interoperability of their historical data.

This consortium can rest on a strong base for this interoperability: the symogih.org project. It has been used for many years now and offers a strong and time-tested base for the classification of historical data. On this meta-database several research group host already their research data, ranging from archaeology to medieval and contemporary prosopography. The consortium aims at broadening the scale of their system at the European level.

From this project, an ontology management environment was conceived that should be expanded to other branches of historical research. More details on the project can be found here.

During the meeting, the partners of this consortium, coming from Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France and Luxembourg presented their on-going research. The C²DH was represented via the impresso project. The presentations of their respective projects are available here.
