The conference of the International Federation for Public History (IFPH), hosted by the C²DH in September, received the Green Business Events logo certification.

At the C²DH, we believe it's essential to align our events with sustainable practices and environmental responsibility. Hence, we have followed recommendations and suggestions to receive the Green Business Logo certification for the conference of the International Federation for Public History (IFPH) we will host this September. To achieve this, we established a team of 3 people at the Centre from different background: Cécile Duval (Research and Development Specialist), Audrey Sapet (Team Assistant) and Vanessa Napolitano (Communication Officer).

Environmental sustainability is a critical aspect of our collective future. By seeking the Green Business certification, we are committed to reducing the environmental footprint of our event. This certification serves as a tangible symbol of our dedication to minimizing waste, conserving resources, and promoting eco-friendly practices throughout the conference's planning and execution.

The Green Business Logo represents adherence to rigorous standards set forth by the Ministry of Economy in Luxembourg. It means that our event meets specific criteria listed on a downloadable checklist. This checklist covers themes such as communication, waste, sustainable catering, mobility, water and energy, accessibility and inclusivity, and exhibition stands and furniture. For instance, a third of the food served will be vegan and locally sourced (within 100km) or organic. Sustainable catering also involves using reusable tableware and eco-certified tablecloths. Moreover, we have chosen to host the event in a fully hybrid format, facilitating discussion among participants all over the world. For those attending in person, comprehensive information on mobility options is provided, as Luxembourg is advanced in this regard. Finally, we have put in significant effort to promote the event without extensive printed materials.

By promoting sustainable initiatives such as this one, we aim to inspire other conferences and events within academia to adopt similar criteria. We hope to foster a culture of environmental consciousness and responsibility within the academic communities we serve.

Earning the Green Business Logo is our proactive step toward fulfilling this obligation while setting a standard for excellence in environmentally conscious event management.
