Current position

Doctoral Researcher at the C²DH, part of the LHI research group.

Research

The PhD project is part of the Spolilux-project which is researching the dispossession of the Jewish community in Luxembourg during the Second World War and the Occupation period. In her PhD thesis, supervised by Prof. Denis Scuto, Jana looks at the processes of restitution and indemnification in post-war Luxembourg, particularly focusing on how those having been persecuted as being Jewish. The thesis aims at researching both the legal, political, and bureaucratic framework and practices as well as studying individual compensation case files.

Teaching

She is currently co-teaching the Tutorat course for students of the Master en Histoire Européenne Contemporaine (MAHEC).

Educational background

She completed a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in history and economics at the University of Mannheim, Germany (including Erasmus semester at Université Bordeaux Montaigne and Universidade de Coimbra). In her MA thesis Jana analyzed the position of the Federal Republic of Germany
