Historesch Gesinn is a platform that aims to build a bridge between researchers and the general public. It has now been enriched with an “Identify” feature.

A lecture series co-organised by TU Darmstadt, University College London, Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History (C²DH) and the Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte. The seminar offers an important way of keeping up to date with the methodological and theoretical state of the art in digital oral history. We invited speakers to present work on recent technological developments that may hold promise for digital oral history. In this way, the seminar series appeals to (digital) oral historians, digital humanists and scholars of the history of information, memory and knowledge systems.

Call for papers for the international conference organised by the Impresso project and the History Department of the University of Lausanne, to be held on 27 and 28 January 2025, on the theme ‘Transmedia History: Circulations, Reconfigurations and New Methodologies’.

What exactly does the Impresso project want to achieve with its research objectives in Natural language processing, design and history? What are the technical, conceptual and methodological challenges we face? How can we facilitate secure access to data with respect to copyright restrictions? These questions stood at the core of the first on-site Impresso workshop with partners which took place on 25 and 26 April 2024 at EPFL Lausanne.

Members of the research area Contemporary History of Luxembourg and participants of the Strand Colloquium for Digital and Transnational History had a workshop to assess the capabilities of the Chat Eluxemburgensia, an AI-powered chatbot designed to provide historical information in response to natural language queries. The workshop identified the chatbot's strengths in answering specific, structured questions about historical figures and events.

How can “transmedia” history be put into practice from both theoretical and empirical perspectives? The international conference “Transmedia History”—organised by the Impresso project and the University of Lausanne’s History Department—will gather scholars from various backgrounds around this question to exchange views on new prospects opened by digitisation and digital tools to carry out transmedia research.

The second DHJewish conference and hackathon will take place on 10-12 April 2024 in Potsdam. The event is organised by the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies together with the C²DH. The hackathon is co-organised with the Network Digital Humanities at the University of Potsdam.

Following on a series of conferences that addressed the specifics of Digital Humanities (DH) approaches within the field of Jewish Studies and a hands-on DH Jewish hackathon, the second #DHJewish conference aims to critically (re)assess the value(s) of the Digital for the field of Jewish Studies as it has been developed and discussed over the past ten years.
